Where to go to get Adrenaline rush : Citarik River, Sukabumi, West Java, Indonesia.
Camping, rafting, flying fox, paintball.
After stuffing ourselves with delicious Sudanese food, I and my friends got ready for the day’s main adventure: rafting. The rafting instructor told us that due to the rainy season, the river had swollen and its current and rapids were more dangerous. With our heart racing, we got on board of our rubber rafts, dressed in safety jackets and helmets. But still we were completely unprepared when in the middle of the wild water our raft crashed into a rock and one of my palls fell overboard. Panicked, we were trying to pull her back on board when another swift current whisked her pants away, making us laugh amid the terror. Arriving save and sound at the second camp, we rushed to the saung, to enjoy coconut ice and chat about the rafting experience.
The next challenge was called the flying fox. I was strapped around with safety gear and ropes, and then told to climb a coconut tree. It was terrifying to look down from the top of the tree. There I was tied to a stout rope that stretched across the river. The train fell heavily and the wind made me shiver, but it was a point of no return. Trembling, I jumped and slid down the rope. At the moment I felt as though my spirit was leaving my body! Arriving soaking wet on the other side of the river, I felt both exhilarated and terrified.
The next day we had a war simulation. We wore regular army uniforms and were armed each with a rifle with paint bullets. Even though it was only a game, it felt so real. In the end, although we couldn’t decide who the winning team was, it was still great fun.
